Choosing an iPod for backing tracks

Peter from England, contacted me recently and asked what’s the best iPod for backing tracks. Here’s his question and my answer below:

Hi,
I am looking for an ipod, can you give me any recommendations?
I just want to be able to play backing tracks, no need for whistles
and bells.

Hi Peter

The most important thing is that you choose one of the iPod models that has a screen (as opposed to the cheapest models which don’t have a screen).

For something that will do the job without paying extra for the bells and whistles, I’d recommend the new iPod Nano – only about £90 and VERY good value:
