Mercy (Duffy)
A number 1 hit in the UK for Duffy, “Mercy” is a great backing track which maintains that wonderful sixties soul feel which seems to have come back in to fashion thanks to Amy Winehouse.
The riff is almost a copy of Ben E Kings stand by me (which Sean Kingston used for his Beautiful Girls hit record in 2007). So, it seems that if you wanted a hit record in 2008, all you had to do was sample a little piece of “Stand by me”!
